New Orleans, LA (November 17, 2014) – During a general session of the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Annual Meeting & Expo entitled “The Doctors Are In,” APHA Executive Director, Dr. Georges Benjamin (far right) leads a conversation about the status of the nation’s healthcare system with the current Acting Surgeon General, Dr. Boris D. Lushniak (far left) and former Surgeons Generals Dr. Regina Benjamin, Dr. Steven Galson, Dr. David Satcher, Dr. Joycelyn Elders and Dr. Antonia Novello. In addition to continued emphasis on the eradication of smoking, AIDS, childhood obesity and women’s health, all agreed that “the selection of the nation’s Surgeon General should not politicized” to the detriment of the nation’s healthcare system.
